Stuck in the hustle & bustle?
Do you remember the slogan of the Energizer Bunny, that it “Keeps going, and going, and going”? For a battery, this lifespan is cherished, but for a human being, it is exhausting!
Are you currently living as an energizer bunny? Do you feel like you are always on the go - from morning to night - and never stop till bedtime…and then maybe check your email one more time?
Is your day filled with rushing from one meeting to the next, picking up and dropping of children, rushing across town to meet a client, then rushing to your next task immediately after? Are you in back-too-back zoom meetings and checking emails in between?
If this is you, I invite you to S L O W D O W N.
Try this:
Take a big inhale through your nose.
Pause for a moment.
Exhale out of your mouth, an audible exhale or sigh if able.
Pause for a moment.
Repeat by taking a big inhale through your nose; pausing; exhaling out of your mouth; then pausing to reflect.
.
How do you feel? Were you able to focus on just your breath?
If yes, great! You took a moment to slow down, to do just one thing without rushing to the next.
If no, that’s ok! Putting focus on one thing at a time tasks practice.
Want to see improvement and learn to S L O W D O W N? Try this: When you begin to feel yourself, “going, going, going”, S T O P. In the middle of your task, stop. Pause. Then, create more space in your day by trying the cleansing breath technique we just practiced.
Cleansing breath can be practiced in the morning after you drop off the kids or help them get their schoolwork set up.
It can be practiced after you complete a work task or finish a meeting.
It can be practiced right before you take lunch.
It can be practiced after you lock up the shop or shut down your email and phone for the day.
This practice leads to intentional behavior during the day and will create a ripple effect of stillness in the body and mind, a sense of only having one task to do at a time - the task right in front of you.
Peace all!
